About the Blade: This small sloyd has a compound grind on the flats. The 25 degree edge bevel is very short, allowing the blade to turn in a concave cut very easily, making it an excellent knife for finishing difficult areas of a spoon, especially the neck. The tip of this sloyd is very fine and these blades should not be used for prying to any degree.
This blade is forged from 1/4″ bearing steel rod and heat treated by Nic Westermann. The blade is 2mm thick at the spine with distal taper towards the tip.
As the blades are forged by hand, the final thickness does vary, by approx .25mm, this doesn’t sound like a lot but when put in their Jig it means that whilst the edge geometry is identical, the point the grind line blends in with the scale from forging will vary so there may be some cosmetic differences between blades, be assured though- this has no effect on their function.
About the Handle: Similar in size to a mora, but the 12 sides make for a better grip.
About the Sheath: A milk painted wooden sheath with a rolled leather insert to hold the blade.
