Wood Tamer Strop Paddle

This strop paddle has been made for carvers who want a quick, reliable way to bring their edge back to life. The paddle is 310 × 70 × 18 mm with a 215 × 65 mm strip of premium 0.8 mm kangaroo leather — tough, flexible and beautifully consistent. One side of the paddle is flat for your straight blades, while the opposite edge is rounded so you can easily strop the inside curve of your hook knives.

The leather is split to a very fine nap, so it holds compound nicely when you want extra bite, but it also polishes well on the bare suede side if you prefer a cleaner finish. A few passes on each side and your edge is ready to carve again.

A quick note on strops:
There are some strops on the market that sell for more than this one, but are made from thick, soft cowhide. Those can actually do more harm than good. The spongy leather rounds your blade and creates small micro bevels that make carving harder and reduce edge life. Roo leather behaves very differently — it’s thin, dense and responsive — which means it keeps your edge crisp and true instead of slowly blunting it.

If you’re carving spoons, bowls or detail work, this is one of those simple tools that makes a big difference. It’s built well, it feels good in the hand, and it just works.
