Product details

The Ryoba pull saw is one of the most versatile Japanese saws, featuring rip teeth on one side and crosscut teeth on the other. This double-edge design allows you to cut both along the grain and across the grain with a single saw, making it an excellent all-round tool for general woodworking.

The rip-cut side is ideal for cutting tenon cheeks, ripping boards and general joinery work, while the crosscut side produces clean, accurate cuts across the grain for trimming stock or cutting joinery shoulders. This combination makes the Ryoba particularly useful when you need one saw capable of handling a wide variety of tasks.

With its 240 mm blade length, this saw represents the standard Ryoba size, offering a good balance of reach and control for both bench work and breaking down stock. The thin blade produces a narrow kerf and cuts efficiently on the pull stroke, helping the saw track straight while requiring very little effort from the user.

The blade is made from SK85 Japanese tool steel, known for its ability to hold a sharp edge while delivering clean, precise cuts in both soft and hardwood. A hardwood handle made from Japanese Wingnut and wrapped in natural rattan provides a comfortable grip and excellent control during extended use.

Versatile, efficient and easy to use, the Ryoba is often considered the best introduction to Japanese pull saws and a dependable everyday saw for the workshop.
