Z-saw Flush S-145 – Japanese Flush Cut Saw (150mm)

This is a purpose-built tool for one job — and it does it exceptionally well.

The Zetsaw Flush S-145 is a traditional Japanese kugihiki (flush cut saw), designed to trim protruding dowels, tenons and plugs perfectly flush to a surface without damaging it.

The key is in the blade. It has no tooth set, meaning the teeth don’t flare out past the blade thickness. That allows it to ride flat against your work without scratching or digging in — something a standard saw simply can’t do.

The blade is also thin and flexible, so you can keep it flat to the surface and follow through with a clean, controlled cut.

Where it shines

  • Trimming dowels and plugs flush
  • Cutting tenons back to a finished surface
  • Joinery cleanup work
  • Fine finishing where you don’t want to mark the timber

This is one of those tools that saves you time — and avoids fixing mistakes later.

What makes it work

  • No-set teeth — cuts flush without scratching surrounding timber
  • Fine tooth pattern (~21 TPI) for clean, controlled cuts
  • Thin, flexible blade to stay flat to the surface
  • Impulse hardened teeth for long edge life
  • Replaceable blade — swap it out when needed

It’s a light-touch tool. Let it glide and it’ll leave a clean result straight off the saw.

A note on use

Because the teeth have no set, this saw is designed specifically for flush trimming — not general cutting. Use it for its intended purpose and it’ll give you clean, accurate results every time.

This is one of those simple tools that solves a very specific problem — and once you’ve used one, it becomes hard to go back.
