We know how much our customers love the Legless Mule, but we've regularly been asked if we would ever make a full-sized Spoon Mule.

This got me thinking. Why not combine the flexibility of our Legless Mule with the stability and convenience of a traditional Spoon Mule?

And so, the Headless Mule was born.

The idea was simple. Create a complete Spoon Mule system that can be used just like a traditional mule, but with the added benefit of being able to detach the Legless Mule from the main frame and use it independently on a table or workbench.

The result is a versatile, two-in-one carving system that gives you the best of both worlds.

As with most things I design, I may have gone a little overboard with the construction. Is it over-engineered? Probably! But I wanted something that was absolutely rock solid when in use. The frame is constructed from quality 30mm and 18mm birch plywood, M6 stainless steel bolts, threaded inserts and hardwood paddles.

To give you an idea of how solid it is, I can stand my 110kg on the frame without any noticeable flex, let alone sit on it as intended!

The Legless Mule itself retains all the features that have made it so popular, including its adjustable clamping system, multiple jaw positions and versatile risers that allow you to hold your work in a variety of ways.

And when you don't need the full Spoon Mule, simply detach the Legless Mule, fit the additional foot and secure it to your table or workbench. Perfect for smaller workshops, demonstrations or simply when you want to free up some floor space.

Flat-pack assembly: The Headless Mule is supplied flat-packed and requires assembly. All necessary assembly hardware is included. A step-by-step instructional assembly video is coming soon. Product photography: Additional lifestyle photographs and demonstration videos are coming soon to show the Headless Mule in action and demonstrate its different configurations. The Headless Mule is designed for seated use. Although the frame has supported a static load of 110kg without noticeable flex during informal testing, this is not a certified load rating and the unit is not intended for standing on. The Legless Mule can be detached and mounted to a suitable workbench using the additional foot supplied.
