I regularly get asked about teaching children.  I am always happy to teach kids however it is up to the parents to decide whether your child is ready to pick up sharp tools.

For an 12 year old and younger I would just ask that an adult join the class to help me keep an eye on them and keep them safe.  I love to teach kids however as they require a little more attention I just ask for some assistance so that I can share my attention around with all of the students equally.  I feel also that this helps your child at home having a parent they can check in with while they are carving.  I also promise you that spoon carving is addictive so it is equally enjoyable for the parent/carer.

      Fantastic!

I booked an introductory class as a gift for my partner's 50th, I also joined in! It was a fantastic course! Chris's teaching style is quite laid back but attentive which made for a most relaxing enjoyable day. Chris's customer service was also outstanding which is why we ended up doing his course while we were traveling through rather than one closer to home. I can highly recommend The Wood Tamer!

      Amazing

I’ve wanted to learn carving for a while now and Chris was the perfect teacher to guide me through it.

From learning about the tools, the timber, as well as the technique and art of carving, it was an amazing afternoon.

I would definitely recommend this class to anyone interested or curious - I will be back!

      See you again spoon!

I booked a class for my partner and I in April. I started carving spoons this year and was eager to keep learning. My partner was keen to come along and see what all the fuss was about and have a go too.

Chris was very easy to communicate with. I was travelling and had very limited phone reception yet still managed to arrange a class with ease.

The class was tailored to suit us - customised based on our (in)experience, level of confidence and desired outcomes.

Chris is a kind and thoughtful person who provided a comfortable and welcoming space to learn. He shares his experience with patience and such obvious passion.

Thank-you Chris for the fantastic class and all your extra support and advice You have provided.

I will be back for more tools and more classes!

      Family Fun!

I booked Chris’ spoon carving workshop for myself, my husband and my parents. I wanted a fun activity that would bring us together and allow our creative juices to flow!

We were definitely not disappointed! As well as offering us expert guidance, Chris provided a beautiful space for us to explore the art of spoon carving while enjoying a good bit of banter!

We left with our own unique spoons and some lovely memories. I can’t recommend this experience enough. I’ll definitely be back to refine my skills and have some more fun times. Thanks Chris!
