The ultimate jig for woodturning tools
The SVD-186 R Gouge Jig ensures precise consistency in the shape and sharpening angle of your bowl and profile gouges. This guarantees a consistent and predictable performance at the lathe with every sharpening. The TTS-100 Turning Tool Setter allows you to achieve your desired shape and angle for different types of turning.
With the SVD-186 R Gouge Jig, you can easily sharpen your tools in the same direction as the rotation of the grinding wheel while using the horizontal position of the universal support. If your machine is from 2001 or earlier, simply attach the XB-100 Horizontal Base to sharpen with an edge trailing configuration.
The wings of the gouge can be adjusted for a custom fit to your woodturning technique. When used correctly with your Tormek machine, the SVD-186 R Gouge Jig delivers fast and precise results without sacrificing sharpness.
The SVD-186 R Gouge Jig includes a special shaft that allows for controlled and simple sharpening of woodturning cutters of various shapes, making it easy to sharpen your woodturning cutters.
Follow ready-made recipes, or create your own
The SVD-186 R Gouge Jig can be customized to produce various profiles. Users have the option to either create their own unique profile or select one from the accompanying profile guide. To document their preferred profile, customers can utilize our PL-01 Profile Labels and secure them to the tool handle's metal ring, allowing for effortless and accurate replication of the sharpening angle.
Sharpen carbide woodturning cutters easily with the SVD-186 R Gouge Jig. Simply attach your cutters to the included shaft for precise and controlled sharpening.
SVD-186 R for wood sculpting tools
Upgrade your sharpening game with Tormek's water-cooled grinding wheels. Our specially designed SVD-186 R Gouge Jig makes sharpening curved and bent tools a breeze while protecting delicate carbon steel edges from overheating.
The jig can be modified to accommodate any tool shape, enabling effortless creation of a polished bevel on curved edges. Sharpening curved gouges yields equally impressive outcomes.
Lock the turning motion
The SVD-186 R Gouge Jig features a locking knob, providing the ability to secure rotational movement. This makes it simpler to maintain control while sharpening wood sculptor's V-gouges. It also enables sharpening with a completely flat bevel on luthier knives when paired with Tormek's MB-102 Multi Base and diamond grinding wheels.
Re-profile your tools with the SVD-186 R Gouge Jig
The BGM-100 Bench Grinder Mounting Set enables the use of the SVD-186 R Gouge Jig on your bench grinder, allowing you to quickly and effectively remove excess steel or adjust the sharpening angle of your tool. However, caution must be taken to avoid overheating and damaging the edge of the tool. Once the initial rough sharpening is done on the bench grinder, the Tormek machine can be used to achieve the final sharpness of the edge.
The TTS-100 Turning Tool Setter, with our patented design, ensures consistent shape and sharpening angle. This sophisticated jig system offers the perfect combination of speedy steel removal and optimal sharpness.
