Temple Tool Co Kataba Pull Saw – Medium Universal Teeth – 265 mm

The Kataba pull saw is a single-edge Japanese saw designed for deeper cuts and general woodworking tasks. Unlike a Ryoba, which has teeth on both sides, the Kataba has one cutting edge, allowing the blade to pass through thicker material without the risk of the opposite edge binding in the cut.

This version features a 265 mm blade with medium universal teeth (14.4 TPI). The tooth pattern combines elements of rip and crosscut geometry, allowing the saw to cut along the grain, across the grain and on diagonal cuts with equal confidence. This makes it a very versatile saw for general woodworking.

The longer blade provides good reach and efficient cutting when dimensioning stock, trimming boards or cutting medium to large joinery such as tenons. The thin blade produces a narrow kerf and cuts efficiently on the pull stroke, helping the saw track straight while requiring very little effort.

The blade is made from SK85 Japanese tool steel, known for its ability to hold a sharp edge and deliver clean, accurate cuts. The handle is crafted from Japanese Wingnut hardwood and wrapped in natural rattan, providing a comfortable grip and excellent control during extended use.

Versatile and capable of handling a wide range of tasks, the Kataba is an excellent general-purpose Japanese saw for the workshop.
