Temple Tool Co Ryoba Pull Saw – Double Edge – 180mm

The Ryoba pull saw is one of the most versatile Japanese saws, combining both rip and crosscut teeth on a single blade. This makes it an excellent all-round saw for general woodworking tasks where you need to cut both along and across the grain.

One side of the blade is filed with rip teeth for cutting along the grain, making it ideal for tasks such as cutting tenon cheeks, trimming joinery and breaking down stock. The opposite side features crosscut teeth for clean cuts across the grain, allowing you to cut boards to length or trim joinery shoulders with ease. This dual-edge design gives the Ryoba its name, which literally means “double blade.”

The 180 mm blade length offers a good balance of reach and control, making it well suited to smaller projects and bench work. The thin blade produces a narrow kerf that cuts efficiently with very little effort while maintaining excellent accuracy.

The blade is made from SK85 Japanese tool steel, known for its ability to hold a sharp edge and deliver clean, precise cuts. A hardwood handle made from Japanese Wingnut and wrapped in rattan provides a comfortable grip and excellent control during extended use.

Compact, versatile and easy to use, this Ryoba is a great general-purpose saw and an excellent introduction to traditional Japanese pull saws.
