Z-saw Dozuki Hardwood H240 – Japanese Pull Saw

If you’re working hardwoods, you’ll notice pretty quickly that not all dozuki are created equal.

The Zetsaw Dozuki Hardwood H240 is purpose-built for dense timbers — think oak, maple, walnut — where a standard fine dozuki can start to feel a bit fragile or slow. The tooth geometry has been tuned specifically for hardwood, giving you a cleaner cut with less effort and better tracking through tougher fibres.

It still has everything you expect from a Japanese pull saw: a thin blade, fine kerf, and that controlled pull stroke that keeps things accurate right from the first cut.

Where it shines

  • Dovetails and tenons in hardwood
  • Furniture work and cabinetry
  • Clean shoulder cuts where accuracy matters
  • Anyone stepping up from softwood into denser timbers

This is a proper joinery saw — not for rough work, but for cuts that need to land exactly where you intend.

What makes it different

  • Tooth pattern optimised for hardwood — cuts dense fibres cleanly without tearing
  • Impulse hardened teeth for long edge life
  • Ultra-thin blade (~0.3mm) for minimal effort and fine kerf
  • Rigid spine keeps cuts straight and controlled
  • Replaceable blade — keep the handle, swap when needed

Specs

  • Blade length: 240mm
  • Blade thickness: 0.3mm
  • Kerf: approx. 0.43mm
  • Tooth pitch: 1.2mm (~21 TPI)
  • Max depth of cut: approx. 50mm
  • Made in Japan

If you’re mostly working soft timber, a standard fine dozuki will do the job.

But if you’re cutting hardwood regularly, this is the one you reach for.

It tracks straighter, cuts cleaner, and feels like it’s actually working with the timber instead of fighting it.
