Z-saw Universal H-265 – Japanese Pull Saw (265mm)

If you’re after one saw that can handle just about anything you throw at it, this is a solid place to land.

The Zetsaw Universal H-265 is a general-purpose kataba — no spine, longer reach, and a tooth pattern designed to cut rip, cross and everything in between. It’s the kind of saw you grab when you don’t want to think too hard about which saw to use. It just gets on with the job.

With a slightly thicker blade than a dozuki, it’s more forgiving in use and capable of deeper cuts, while still keeping that clean, controlled feel you expect from a Japanese pull saw.

Where it shines

  • Breaking down stock
  • General carpentry and workshop use
  • Cutting solid timber, plywood and sheet goods
  • One-saw setups (worksite, kit bag, or beginners)

This is the “reach for it first” saw.

What makes it work

  • Universal tooth pattern — rip, cross and angled cuts in one saw
  • Kataba design (no spine) for deeper cuts and flexibility
  • Impulse hardened teeth for long edge life
  • Pull-cut action for better control and reduced effort
  • Replaceable blade — keep the handle, swap when needed

It’s not as specialised as a dozuki — and that’s exactly the point.

Where a dozuki is precise and delicate, this is practical and adaptable.
