How we use it

Seat the bit on your line and work with the grain for clean, controlled stock removal. For longer sessions, choke up the grip for detail and step back for heavier roughing. Keep strokes even and let the edge do the work.

Care

Wipe dry after use, add a touch of oil to the head, and store in the sheath in a dry spot. If you strop, use firm backing to avoid rounding the apex.

In the box

  • Focuser FC501 carving axe

  • Leather sheath

  • Handle colour chosen at random by the maker (no colour selection)

We have a great sharpening starters kit to help you keep your spokeshave blade and other tools sharp.

Regular stropping with stropping compound and a stropping paddle is a great way to maintain a keen edge for  longer before you will even need to think about resharpening.
