REMEMBER to always watch carefully over children when they are whittling or carving, these knives are sharp and can cause serious injury.
The Woodlands CC Kids knives are made with 15n20 Swedish steel using recycled blackbutt timber handles. The steel is hardened to 60-61 HRC. The bevel is ground at 25 degrees inclusive. They have great edge retention and come super sharp ready to carve.
They are made from High Carbon Steel and therefore rust easily. In our opinion this is where the responsibility of owning a knife starts with a young person, maintaining their knife so that it is ready when they need it. Oiling, stropping, maintaining their knife along with respecting a sharp tool are great life lessons.
Forest Craft is a great little book that has a range of carving projects that can be undertaken with adult supervision.
